SLUMBERLAND RECORDS 35TH ANNIVERSARY PARTY + POP-UP RECORD SHOP!
Friday, January 31st | Starting at 5:00pm
...
On Friday, January 31st, ChurchKey will host a 35th Anniversary Party for our friends at the legendary American independent music stalwart, Slumberland Records, featuring DJs, a pop-up record shop, exclusive merch, and the special release of Stop What Yr Brewing, a Hazy IPA collaboration between Bluejacket, Ocelot & Slumberland!

Slumberland Records story began right here in the DC-area, where at the end of 1989 Mike Schulman and his friends bound together to DIY release of the earliest works of Black Tambourine, Velocity Girl, and Lorelai, among others. For 35 years, the label has remained stubbornly dedicated to the ephemeral pleasures of indiepop, regardless of which way the winds of fashion blow. While the bigger names on the label might sound familiar—-Stereolab, Lilys, The Pains of Being Pure At Heart & Veronica Falls—-it's their continued dedication to elevating and amplifying the music of thrilling young unknowns that is Slumberland's ethos and raison d'etre.

To celebrate their return to DC for one weekend only, Slumberland is sending some of its DJs to ChurchKey to spin records on Friday night, plus sell some classic albums during a pop-up sale. ChurchKey will also feature a brand new collaboration beer between Blueajcket, Ocelot & Slumberland called Stop What Yr Brewing. This 6.8% ABV Hazy IPA channels the signature "out-of-time" quality of so many Slumberland releases. It features Segal Ranch-grown High-Oil Cascade – arguably the definitive cultivar of American craft beer since the early ’70s – alongside Citra, Riwaka and a new hop called Krush. Try it alongside a total of 10 beers from Bluejacket and Ocelot.

For those who want to party all weekend, Slumberland is continuing its celebrations on Saturday, February 1st, at Comet Ping Pong, where Lorelei, Jeanines & Lightheaded will perform live starting at 10:00PM. Tickets for the show are available HERE.
